Meeting at Pozzuoli (Italy)
We are just returning from a very productive meeting in Pozzuoli with Dr. Costanza Gialanella, Dr. Alessandra Benini and Dr. Lucio Amato. We met at the office of the Soprintendenza per I Beni Archeologici di Napoli at Pozzuoli where we were guests of Dr. Costanza Gialanella. She made us feel extremely welcome and we are very grateful to her.
The aim of this meeting was to plan both the geophysical survey and geoarchaeological coring campaign by the end of 2015. We discussed the potentiality of different locations and we finally decided to investigate two areas of the ancient port of Puteoli.
This meeting confirmed the interest of both RoMP and the Soprintendenza to improve our knowledge of the harbour area of one of the most important of Rome’s ports. We very much hope that the planned fieldworks will inaugurate a very fruitful research partnership.
